Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 – Our theme: Peer Support
For MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2021 our theme at Together is peer support. The past year has been a difficult and challenging one for all of us dealing with the pandemic and restrictions that came. As a result we want to focus on the inspiring impact we see peer support have across our services. We want to celebrate the different features of peer support that make it so effective like the resilience people develop and pass on by sharing their lived experience. We’ll also show the compassionate and informed way people interact with service users and the ways that can complement other support options.
For the week we’ll be inviting people that use peer support services to share insights about the relationships they develop and why it is different to other types of support. We’ll also ask peer supporters themselves to share insights about how they work alongside people. Additionally we’ll look at how they may have made the transition from experiencing mental distress themselves in the past to using that knowledge to help others.
If you’re someone who’s accessed peer support or are a peer supporter yourself you can get involved. Tag us using @TogetherMW in your comments on the impact of peer support for you and use the hashtags #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek , #MHAW2021 and #PeerSupport
