Criminal Justice Mental Health Services
The service is supported by Forensic Mental Health Practitioners (FMHPs) working in collaboration with IOM Probation Practitioners and Police to support people on probation (POPs). The IOM target group are people over the age of 18 years, with a history of prolific offending. The FMHP has a specific focus on mental health, dual diagnosis, substance misuse needs and other vulnerabilities. Where appropriate, the FMHP undertakes a full health and wellbeing assessment, manages referrals to statutory and non-statutory community partners, and delivers short term clinical interventions.
The service also provides workshops to probation practitioners, IOM police and IOM partners with the aim of increasing understanding of mental health and support needs within the IOM cohort, referral pathways and trauma informed models of care.
