Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.
Face-to-face services
Our advice and support services across the UK give people one-to-one, personalised help with all their housing issues.
Shelter Southwark based service offering free and independent advice and support for people needing help to access safe, secure and affordable housing. They run a Drop-in on Monday’s & Wednesday from 10am – 1pm at their office which they share with Southwark Council’s housing Team at Bournemouth Road
COVID-19 update, all face to face services are suspended. We’re still able to help and continue to accept referrals. These will be booked in as telephone appointments please contact us on 0344 515 1815. We can provide immediate advice during our ‘drop in’ times – 10-1pm Monday and Wednesday. Outside of those times we will arrange an appointment if non urgent.

If you have an emergency housing problem you can call shelters free housing advice helpline on 0808 800 4444.
You should use this line if:
- you have nowhere to sleep, or might be homeless soon
- you have somewhere to sleep, but nowhere to call home
- you are/could be at risk of harm
Our helpline is open every day of the year:
- 8am – 8pm on weekdays
- 9am – 5pm on weekends

For non-Southwark residents Face-to-face services in London
As a precautionary measure, in line with government guidance, the Shelter London face-to-face services are temporarily closed. You can still access our support, guidance, and expert advice services via our get help pages online, or by calling the London service team.
The people we support are our priority, and we are working hard to limit the impact on our services.
