About the service
Wavelly House is a registered care-home that opened in 1996. It provides long-term housing for six clients between the ages of 50 and 75.
The house is a modern, purpose-built building with a large dining and recreation area and a comfortable lounge with TV, video and stereo. It also has kitchens, bathrooms and a good-sized bedroom for each resident. In addition there is a large patio and garden.
The staff team of eight is available 24 hours a day, with at least two staff on duty during the day, and one sleeping in overnight.
The house is situated in a pleasant cul de sac in South Ham, a residential area about a mile from the main shopping area of Basingstoke. It is a short walk to catch buses into Basingstoke, from where services go to Winchester, Reading and other towns in the area.
Residents meet regularly to discuss issues concerning the day-to-day running of the house, and to decide on any group trips, which might include visits to the sports centre, swimming pool, bowling alley or cinema.
Wavelly House has good contacts with local employment and training schemes, and there are also various clubs in the area that residents can access easily, as well as the chance to attend evening classes at the local school.
