World Mental Health Day 2024 – New film by Lewisham Wellbeing Hub, A Princess’s Story
For World Mental Health Day 2024 at Together we’re continuing our focus on our theme for the year of ‘community and connection’. With that in mind, we’re delighted to share a new film made by our team at Lewisham Wellbeing Hub that focusses on the lived experience of Princess Diamonique who used the community support the Hub provides.

Specifically, the film looks at the music production group provided by the Hub where people can work with professionals to create their own music and benefit from the positive impact creativity and expression can have on mental wellbeing.
Princess’s Story is a stroll to an interview through the streets of Deptford, as she bravely and eloquently narrates her life story with a backdrop of her self-produced tracks. During the film Princess visits places in the community that are important to her such as her favourite Caribbean food shop. She browses yams, green bananas, peppers, limes and avocado’s, some of nature’s finest provisions from around the world used in Caribbean cooking. She also visits the hairdressers where her Granddaughter worked, and she often had her hair done showing some of the places and memories that aid her wellbeing and help her to feel good on a day to day basis.
The film then shows the visits to 999 Club’s Music Production Workshop Princess made, which were supported by Philip Poleon, BAME Wellbeing Advisor at Lewisham Wellbeing Hub. It culminates in an interview where she explains how creating music in the made her feel and how that has given her new purpose.
Princess’s Story was filmed by local film maker, and volunteer with Lewisham Wellbeing Hub, Richard Thomas who is also using the process as his own form of therapy. He was assisted in filming by Philip Poleon, while all music composition was created by Princess with sound production and mixing by Christoph Daikh and David Saunders of the 999 Club.
We hope you enjoy the film and want to say a huge thanks to Princess for sharing her story in such an insightful and joyful way.
