Berkshire West Breathing Space nominated for Mental Health Safety Improvement Award

This recognition celebrates outstanding achievements in improving patient safety and care across the UK healthcare sector, and the whole team at Berkshire West Breathing Space are incredibly proud to be among the finalists.

The service was nominated back in March 2025, and after a rigorous national selection process that saw hundreds of innovative and impactful projects submitted from across the country, the team’s dedication and hard work earned them place on this prestigious shortlist.

This announcement comes at a particularly meaningful time as Together’s Reading services team also recently received confirmation that Berkshire West Breathing Space will be extended by our commissioners. That provides further validation of the value and impact for individuals experiencing mental health crisis across Berkshire. Being shortlisted for a national award now feels like the perfect way for the team to mark this milestone.

What’s next? The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Monday, 15^th September 2025 in Manchester.

In addition, we’re excited to share that our Reading Community Outreach Service, commissioned by Reading Borough Council, has also recently been nominated for an award in recognition of its work in community services, particularly supporting minority groups. We’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks, but it’s heartening to see two services in the Reading and Berkshire area being acknowledged for the vital support they provide to local communities and those who need it most.

Regardless of the results of the awards being shortlisted alongside some of the most innovative services in the UK is a remarkable achievement. It reflects the compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment of everyone involved in delivering on Together’s core values.
