Service User Leadership and Peer Support Consultancy and Training

An Introduction to Our Approach and Offer

Together for Mental Wellbeing has been supporting people living with mental distress for over 140 years.

Central to our work is a belief in the value of lived experience - empowering people to make choices that affect their lives, lead their journey to wellbeing on their own terms, and collectively influence and improve services, organisations and society.

Together for Mental Wellbeing has invested in a dedicated Service User Leadership Team for the last two decades offering training, mentoring, and guidance to ensure service user leadership is embedded into culture and practice. This is in addition to leading on the development of our internal service user leadership and peer support frameworks and training programmes to ensure best practice throughout all levels of the organisation.

Through our long-standing history of involving people with lived experience of mental distress, we now use our real-world experience and evidence-based practice to provide practical, meaningful, and tailored support to teams and organisations looking to improve their knowledge, skills, and confidence in peer support and service user leadership.

You might have just started thinking about peer support models or how to embed working alongside people with lived experience in a meaningful and authentic way. Or you may have a more defined idea about where you might like to go with your work but need help making it happen.

Wherever you are on your journey, we can help you improve your knowledge, skills, and confidence through workshops, training, or longer-term consultancy. We also can offer presentations for lectures, webinars, conferences or events.

Meet Emily

Our Lived Experience Consultant and Trainer

Emily Reynolds is our Lived Experience Consultant and Trainer and a member of the Service User Leadership Team at Together.

Drawing on her own lived experience of distress, Emily has worked with a number of national and local organisations including Mind, the British Association of Social Workers, YoungMinds and more, helping facilitate co-production and involvement. She was a trustee at the user-led charity NSUN for six years and is an associate visiting lecturer at UCL.

Underpinning all of Emily’s work is a belief that communities and individuals understand themselves better than anyone else, and should have the power and resources to make decisions about their own lives.

She draws on her academic background, hands-on practice, and leadership experience to deliver high-impact learning and consultancy support.
