SLaM Child and Family Service

The Southwark Child and Family Service is a Tier 3 child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) based at Mapother House, Maudsley Hospital. They provide outpatient assessment and treatment for children, up to the age of 12, with emotional and behavioural difficulties. They care for children who are registered with a Southwark GP. A Tier 3 CAMHS is provided by a team of specialists in a community mental health clinic or hospital outpatient clinic. This service is for children and young people who have had severe and complex problems for some time.

Team members in a Tier 3 service are likely to include child and adolescent psychiatrists, social workers, clinical psychologists, community psychiatric nurses, child psychotherapists, occupational therapists, as well as art, music and drama therapists.
The service also provides specialist input to child sexual abuse (CSA) cases for children and young people, up to 18 years.
