About the service
The Lewisham Outreach Service is a community service providing up to 12 sessions of 1-2-1 support, and a variety of group workshops, to help people across the diverse communities of Lewisham to manage their mental health, and have the tools, resources, and links to local services to improve their wellbeing and resilience in the long term. This could range from supporting individuals to access other types of therapeutic support to identifying culturally appropriate and faith relevant support to reduce levels of isolation. The service is open to anyone over 18 who lives in the London Borough of Lewisham, has experienced challenges with their mental health and who want to improve their wellbeing.
The Lewisham Outreach Service aims to work alongside people that have not previously used mental health services or maintained contact with them, seeking to understand and learn from their experience to ensure an inclusive and accessible service. To achieve this, the service will offer proactive outreach through meeting people in the community to provide support that puts them in the centre of their care.
The Lewisham Outreach Service supports people to identify local support options in the community and link in with specialist services which can meet their needs. This could range from supporting individuals to access other types of therapeutic support to identifying culturally appropriate and faith relevant support to reduce levels of isolation.
What the service provides
- One to one support – Up to 12 sessions of practical goal-oriented support, including an initial assessment to identify goals that are most important to the person. As part of the one-to-one support, we have specialist Wellbeing Outreach Advisors, who will work collaboratively with each person to ensure the individual is in the driving seat of their care, whilst ensuring support is culturally specific and sensitive.
- Wellbeing workshops – Social engagement through time-limited and ongoing groups and workshops will include social groups and wellbeing activities such as mindfulness and meditation delivered both in person in community premises across the Lewisham borough and virtually.
- Drop- in and pop ups – Get in touch to find out when and where you can find us in local venues across the borough. This is a way of reaching us if you have a query or concern about your wellbeing before you refer to our service. Through our pop up or drop ins you can access information and help in finding the appropriate support or service.
