About the service
Norfolk Road is a welcoming 24-hour accommodation service with capacity to support 11people experiencing mental distress. The accommodation comprises four bungalows, all equipped and fitted to a modern standard, and each individual has their own bedroom, with access to communal spaces including a kitchen and living room.
We are a CQC registered service and following our last inspection in 2018 and review in 2023, Norfolk Road received an overall rating of ‘Good’. We work closely with Community Mental Health Teams and Adult Services to provide the best care and support for the people we work alongside.
Our aim as a service is to encourage people to lead their own journey towards better mental wellbeing; by working alongside them to achieve their individual goals and aspirations. The work we do is led by what is important to each of the people we support. We empower people to learn skills which encourage increased independence and management of their own mental wellbeing, to reduce the need for inpatient admissions and prolonged involvement with statutory services.
Norfolk Road is located centrally in Sheffield close to the railway station, and Sheffield is famously known as the greenest city in the UK, boasting more trees per person than any other city in Europe.
Our support is tailored to each person living at the service, recognising and celebrating that individuality is important to us. We provide one-to-one support as well as group sessions which we encourage everyone in the service to take part in.
Staff can support people living at Norfolk Road to attend all health and wellbeing appointments, and often advocate on behalf of those we support to ensure everyone is receiving the care they have legal right to. We value community assets and we encourage those living at the service to utilise them, as these are the support networks which people may choose to continue using once they move on from Norfolk Road to more independent living.
