About the service
Wavelly House is an established, welcoming and homely 24 hour accommodation service with capacity to support 6 adults (18-65) experiencing mental distress.
The house is a modern, purpose-built building with a large dining and recreation area and a comfortable lounge with TV, video and stereo. It also has a communal kitchen and a good-sized bedroom for each resident. In addition there is a large patio and garden, flower beds, aviary, pond and raised vegetable patches.
We are a CQC registered service and following our last inspection on 2019, and review in 2023, we achieved a rating of ‘Good’ in all areas.
We work closely with Community Mental Health Teams and Adult Social Care services to provide the best care and support for the individuals at the service.
Our aim as a service is to encourage people to lead their own journey towards better mental wellbeing; by working alongside them to achieve their individual goals and aspirations. The work we do is led by what is important to each of the people we support. We empower people to learn skills which encourage increased independence and management of their own mental wellbeing, to reduce the need for inpatient admissions and prolonged involvement with statutory services.
Wavelly House is located in a quiet residential area within Basingstoke, a vibrant town with good economic growth, pleasant green spaces and good facilities. The house is situated in a pleasant cul de sac in South Ham, a residential area about a mile from the main shopping area of Basingstoke. People living in the cul-de-sac are very welcoming and know most of our residents and staff well. It is a short walk to catch buses into Basingstoke, from where services go to Winchester, Reading and other towns in the area.
Our support is tailored to each person living at the service, recognising and celebrating that individuality is important to us. We provide one-to-one support as well as various group activities which we encourage everyone in the service to take part in.
Staff can support people living at Wavelly House to attend all health and wellbeing appointments, and often advocate on behalf of those we support to ensure everyone is receiving the care they have legal right to. Wavelly House has good contacts with local employment and training schemes, and there are also various clubs in the area that residents can access easily, as well as the chance to attend evening classes at the local school
we encourage those living at the service to build local links in the community, as these are the support networks which people may choose to continue using once they move on from Wavelly House to more independent living.
