World Mental Health Day at Norfolk Integrated Housing & Community Support Service

To mark World Mental Health Day on 10th October, Norfolk Integrated Housing & Community Support Service (NICHSS) staff and service users organised celebration events at their supported-housing sites in Great Yarmouth and King’s Lynn. The aim of the events was to raise awareness of mental health, and the problems faced by those living with mental distress.

The team at NIHCSS were overwhelmed by the generosity of local organisations who donated their time, raffle prizes and refreshments. Those included TESCO, Morrisons, Pink Office, Waitrose, Great Yarmouth Christ Church and many more.

Everyone enjoyed engaging with the alpacas from Wymondham Alpacas, goats from Cherry Tree Farm and therapy dogs from Wild Oak Workshops.

There were activities including an Arts & Crafts workshop including one from Tanya, one of our Volunteers plus Gratitude 43, Wild Oak Workshop and Wellbeing Norfolk & Waveney.

NIHCSS were delighted to welcome Together’s CEO Linda Bryant, who said it was an absolute joy to meet so many service users, staff and volunteers.

Reflecting on the day, Interim Head of Operations and Development at NIHCSS, Amanda Gabrielsen said:

I would like to thank the residents, staff and sponsors who made the day a real success. Following on from these events and using money we were able to raise on the day, we plan to hold future events at our sites in Norwich and activities with service users.
