Together for Mental Wellbeing Reading services partner with Reading XL FC
Together for Mental Wellbeing's Reading services have agreed a partnership with football team Reading XL FC to support their members with their mental wellbeing.
Reading XL FC (as seen on BBC national news and ITV meridian news) is a unique weight loss club aimed at men who want to lose a few pounds while enjoying football. They offer weekly weigh-in sessions coupled with 11-a-side football sessions, focusing on fostering weight loss through physical activity and solidarity. As members progress in their weight loss journey and fitness levels, they have the opportunity to participate in 11-a-side matches with other like-minded clubs nationwide.
Supporting men’s mental health is crucial, as statistics show that men are significantly less likely to seek help during a mental health crisis. According to the Mental Health Foundation and NHS, men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women, highlighting the urgent need for accessible mental health support and resources.
Together’s Reading services are thrilled to collaborate with Reading XL FC in this important initiative for men in our communities, providing valuable mental health resources and support to improve the wellbeing of everyone involved with the club.
