Solace Advocacy and Support Services (SASS)

Southwark Advocacy & Support Service (SASS), delivered by Solace Women’s Aid in partnership with Southwark Council, provides confidential advice, advocacy and support to women and men aged 16 years and over who live in Southwark. They support people who have experienced:

  • domestic abuse, (inc. physical, sexual, psychological or financial abuse), within an intimate or family relationship
  • sexual violence/abuse
  • child to parent abuse
  • forced marriage
  • female genital mutilation
  • honour-based violence
  • trafficking (into domestic servitude or sexual exploitation)
  • abuse within same sex relationships

The service has multiple strands, which are:

  • advocacy support for women and men; working across all risk levels, (high, medium and standard)
  • an in-house perpetrator programme, SDVPP, delivered by an experienced practitioner for those who wish to address their abusive behaviour and co-parent their children
  • individual and group counselling
  • therapeutic service specifically for children
  • Women’s voices: a weekly drop-in group every Tuesday (10.30am-12.30pm), run by other survivors which is a chance to meet other women who have experienced domestic abuse as well as talk about different issues
  • Dream big: monthly sessions on a Friday morning on getting back into work, volunteering and education (10am-12pm)
  • ARISE: an 8-week domestic abuse awareness course designed to increase knowledge and confidence around domestic abuse and empower women to keep themselves safe
  • Picking up the Pieces Programme: a three workshop session course supporting mothers to effectively safeguard their children and understand the role of Children’s Social Care
