The Wave Project

The London Wave Project offers Free Therapeutic Surf Courses for disadvantaged and vulnerable young people from Southwark, aged 8-21, who are at risk of social isolation or mental health issues. Courses last six weeks and are proven to help young people improve their confidence and self-esteem. Any professional can refer and courses are absolutely free!

They are running five courses over the weekend in May, June, July, September and October at the beach in East Wittering. Young people are brought to the beach by coach, leaving from London at 10 AM and arriving back in London at 4:30 PM on that same weekend day. All equipment is provided, just swimming costume and towel is required.

COURSES 1 & 2 start on Saturday and Sunday 4-5th May

COURSE 3 starts on Sunday 16th June

COURSES 4 & 5 start on Saturday and Sunday 7-8th September

Sessions are delivered in small groups, with each participant assigned their own volunteer surf mentor to accompany them on land and in the water.

This year, The Wave Project have 60 places available which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The referral procedure is simple, please take a look:
