Anna Freud Self-Care Resources

Anna Freud Self-Care Resources

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families is a children’s mental health charity with over 60 years’ experience of caring for young minds. Our vision is a world in which children and their families are effectively supported to build on their own strengths to achieve their goals in life.

Anna Freud have created a self-care page which allows young people who are experiencing anxiety or depression to discover self-care strategies which may help them manage their mental health.  The resource may be particularly helpful for young people who are waiting for support or whose support may be due to end.

The tool is not a substitute for seeing a mental health professional and has been developed with young people following research into self-care strategies conducted by the Evidence-Based Practice Unit here at the Centre.  The review was published earlier this week in The Lancet Psychiatry and you can hear lead author and Director of EBPU, Professor Miranda Wolpert, discuss the review with Claudia Hammond on BBC Radio 4’s All in the Mind here.
