About the service

Southwark Community Sanctuary is a safe, welcoming and supportive space for anybody aged over 18 experiencing emotional distress and struggling to cope. Whatever the reason for you feeling distressed or in crisis – we’re here to help you.

We are available to provide support during Monday to Friday, from 5pm until 11pm, and during weekends and bank holidays, from 1pm to 11pm, We support people in person at the Community Sanctuary, online via video chat, or on the phone.

You can talk to our staff about how you’re feeling and what is concerning you. We’ll listen to you, and help you to develop a plan to stay safe and well, including coping strategies. We’ll also help you to navigate local services and opportunities that can provide further help and support.

You can also talk to our volunteer peer supporters, who have all had their own experiences of mental health crisis, and have a real understanding of what it’s like.

After meeting with our staff or volunteers, you can also just sit in the Community Sanctuary and enjoy a break from the outside world. It’s a comfortable space to relax, and refreshments are available.
