About the service
Avalon is a 24 hour supported living service for ten adults with a range of mental health needs. The house is a spacious three-storey building, set in large secluded gardens with a pond and pergola. The building was further developed in 2021 adding two rooms in the loft that have their own kitchen space plus two new rooms in the garden one of which is an activity room. Each tenant has their own room, and everyone shares a communal lounge, kitchen/diner and conservatory.
All individuals living at the service are responsible for their own budgeting, medication, shopping, cooking, cleaning and laundry, although support for these can be provided if necessary. The tenants hold monthly meetings to discuss their needs and any house business. They are involved with the recruitment and selection of staff and in the assessment of potential new tenants.
The staff team includes a Service Manager, one Senior Support Worker and eight Support Workers (three of these are relief). In addition, a part-time cleaner is employed to maintain the communal areas. There is also an active network of Peer Support at the service.
Located in a quiet residential area, Avalon is close to local shops and to Ashtead Common, a large countryside area. The local shops in Ashtead village are within easy walking distance. There is good public transport to nearby Leatherhead, Epsom and central London.
