MHAW2020: Video from Jess Worner, Lived Experience Leadership Manager at Together

For Mental Health Awareness Week 2020 at Together we have chosen the theme of lived experience. For the week we will be focusing on the value of the knowledge people gain from their experiences and how important that is for us in our approach to supporting people experiencing mental distress.

Jess Worner is Lived Experience Leadership Manager at Together and she has recorded a video explaining why she wants to celebrate the importance of the knowledge gained from lived experience but also acknowledge the pain and distress that is part of those experiences. Providing an unguarded and frank account she shares how she has faced difficult and troubling times with her mental health but is always encouraged by the powerful solidarity of others with lived experience whether that be colleagues, peers or friends. In the honest and insightful video, Jess also discusses the impact of Covid-19 on her own wellbeing and how far from being a great equaliser as some thought it would be, it has magnified inequalities in many cases.
