Advocacy Awareness Week 2022: Interview with Senior Statutory Advocate at Rochdale Advocacy Together Hub, Alex Clarke
Posted on 11, November 2022
Advocacy Awareness Week runs from 7 to 11 November and the theme for this year is how advocates support people in relation to their human rights. Together has a range of advocacy services working with people in the community or in secure settings and on a variety of forms of advocacy.

Alex Clarke is Senior Statutory Advocate at Rochdale Advocacy Together Hub and was kind enough to take part in an interview to explain how she supports people in her role and how that interacts with human rights.
Alex also discusses how Service User Leadership and lived experience inform the way she works alongside people and shares what her favourite things about her role are. The full interview is below:
Could you tell us a bit about your role as a Senior Statutory Advocate at Rochdale Advocacy Together Hub and the different ways you work alongside people who use the service?
The theme for Advocacy Awareness Week this year is ‘how advocates support people in relation to their human rights’, what are some of the most common ways you protect people’s human rights and are there any specific factors that have impacted that in recent times?
Service User Leadership is Together’s core principle, how would you say that is applied in your own role and how does the lived experience of the people you work alongside influence the support you provide?
What would you say are some of your favourite things about your role as a Senior Statutory Advocate?
Thank you to Alex for taking the time to take part in this interview.
