We ran 3 free events on
- Tuesday 29 April 2008 at Carrs Lane Church Centre, Birmingham
- Thursday 15 May 2008 at Conway Hall, London
- Wednesday 21st May 2008, Manchester
Each of these events were facilitated by a team of staff and service users. Each day began with a series of presentations that covered the following topics:-
- An overview of the Mental Capacity Act
- A service user perspective to the Mental Capacity Act
- Issues facing staff
- The relationship between the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act
Delegates were then able to attend a choice of 3 of the following workshops in order to explore the issues raised in more detail:-
- Making an assessment of capacity
- Making a best-interests decision
- Communicating information
- Planning for future care and treatment
- Independent Mental Capacity Advocates
- The Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act
