Give in memory of a loved one

Holding a charity event on behalf of a family member or friend who has passed away can be a good way to honour their memory. Try to think about their likes and loves and put on a personal and fitting event with those closest to you. For example, if they loved the beach, why not have a day at the beach in their memory and ask friends and people they knew to make a donation?

Read how Caroline ran 10K in the Two Castles Run, Warwickshire in memory of her close friend:

“I ran for my and Harry's dear friend Richard Smith who died very suddenly and tragically last summer, aged 39. Richard had struggled with mental illness most of his life. One of the ways he coped with his illness was to run, and the last time I saw him we had planned to do a 10K run together. Sadly we will never have the chance to do that, but it inspired me to go out, buy a new pair of running shoes and run a race for the two of us!

And we did it! Despite the thunder and lighting and torrential rain, we ran the entire race without stopping for a moment! My sister Alison ran with me and kept me going, acting as my personal coach while I passed the time singing happy birthday to her! My other sisters, mum and Harry were all at the finish line with the promised bubbly and of course Richard was with me in my thoughts throughout the entire race. Richard's mum Rita and his family have been a fantastic support too. Today, my broken toe is suffering somewhat so I think flipflops will continue to be my footwear for the foreseeable future!

We raised £1,248 and I know that money will be used to help someone like Richard have a reason to live another better day.”

On behalf of all at Together, a big thank you to Caroline and all those like her who take part in charity events to help raise vital funds for our work. It really does make a huge difference.
