UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is the UK’s leading professional body for the education, training and accreditation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Our membership includes over 7,800 individual therapists and more than 70 training and accrediting organisations. UKCP is the quality mark for high standards in psychotherapy. We hold the national register of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors, listing those practitioner members who meet exacting standards and training requirements. We also hold a specialist register for psychotherapists qualified to work with children and young people. Finally, as part of our commitment to public protection, we deal with all complaints about therapists or organisations who are UKCP members.

psychotherapists, psychotherapeutic counsellors and people looking for a psychotherapist or psychotherapeutic counsellor.

If you are looking for therapy, you may wish to consult our 'Find a Therapist' directory to search for a therapist near to you. Our Find a Therapist facility is a directory of registrants who are open to new clients. You might want to read more about how to find a therapist or what psychotherapy is.

To find out if a particular therapist is registered with UKCP, you can search our register. Our register is the full list of therapists who have achieved UKCP's standards and training requirements.
