Hearing Voices

If you hear voices HVN can help. Traditionally, the usual treatment for voice hearing has been major tranquillisers, administered to reduce the delusions and hallucinations. However not everyone responds to this treatment. There are some psychiatrists and psychologists who now work with people who hear voices using talking therapies and exploring the meaning of the voices.

Hearing Voices Groups are based firmly on an ethos of self help, mutual respect and empathy. They provide a safe space for people to share their experiences and support one another. They are peer support groups, involving social support and belonging, not therapy or treatment. However, groups do offer an opportunity for people to accept and live with their experiences in a way that helps them regain some power over their lives.

There are over 180 groups across the UK, including groups for young people, people in prison, women and people from BME communities.
Browse groups by area or browse groups by special target group through the 'Find a Group' tool on the website where you can also find other useful information and resources.
