About the service
Snowdon provides a home for eight people with a range of mental health problems. It is a four-storey, detached Edwardian property.
Our residents each have their own bedroom, and share communal living spaces, a kitchen and laundry. There is a large garden with a patio.
Residents and staff work in partnership and everyone helps with the running of the house, including gardening, the recruitment and selection of new staff, and the assessment of potential new residents. Residents meet once a week to discuss the running of the house.
The staff team includes one project manager, one deputy project manager and five senior social-care workers. Residents clean their own rooms and the communal areas with support from staff as required. Residents do their own food shopping and meal planning with staff support based on a weekly food budget.
Woking is a busy commuter-belt town with good facilities including a market, cinema, and shops. Woking Park Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool Complex offers opportunities to exercise and meet other people. There are also several day-centres locally, and a good range of adult education courses is available.
