About the service
The Pines is a registered care home which was opened in 1996. The home accommodates seven people, with the current residents are aged between about 54 and 78.
Pines is located in a quiet cul de sac in South Ham, a residential suburb of Basingstoke close to the town centre. We have a large garden behind the house with several greenhouses and there are plenty of opportunities for budding gardeners to get involved.
The staff team consists of a Project Manager, three Senior Social Care Workers and two Social Care Workers. There are always at least two members of staff on duty during the day, and one sleeping in each night in case of emergencies or high-support situations.
Residents’ meetings are held fornightly to discuss issues concerning the day-to-day running of the house, and to decide on any group trips to local sports and leisure facilities. These could include going to local garden centres, pub meals out or theatre trips. The project also has a good relationship with local employment schemes and daycentres.
Each resident has their own room, as well as access to the communal lounge, kitchen and dining room.
Residents are responsible for making their own meals, keeping their own rooms clean and for doing their own laundry, with appropriate support if necessary.
The Pines is a residential project for people over 18 years of age with enduring mental health needs and provides them with a home for up to two years, promoting their independence in a person centred way to move into more independent accommodation.
