We are more convinced than ever of the value of strength in partnership, and we are forging more and more working links with organisations that share our principle of working alongside people on their journey towards better wellbeing. Liz Felton, Chief Executive

Annual Review 2016-17

Our mission of supporting people to live fulfilling, independent lives – and making sure that they lead the way in achieving this – is now more important than ever. Despite continued attention on mental health, we know that there are still not always enough resources at the front line, and services continue to disappear, often leaving people without the support they need.

Of course, we need to reach as many people as possible, and this year, we were excited to expand our personalised community support provision to Wokingham and Staffordshire, as well as extending our advocacy provision in Rochdale and Warrington to encompass all statutory and non-statutory advocacy for these local authorities from one point of access.

We are more convinced than ever of the value of strength in partnership, and we are forging more and more working links with organisations that share our principle of working alongside people on their journey towards better wellbeing. Examples this year included co-delivery of services with partners in Warwickshire, Hampshire and Warrington. We expect to see more of these partnerships in future and look forward to seeing how many more people we can reach by pooling resources with like-minded organisations.

It’s sometimes difficult to meaningfully quantify the value of the support we provide, so we were really excited this year to share the results of a social return on investment study of our peer support. This study has enabled us to articulate the combined value of positive outcomes experienced by people both giving and receiving support. We hope it will help us and others to promote peer support and cement the reputation of this vital method of sharing experiences to improve wellbeing.

As ever, we are inspired and guided by the people we support, and are constantly looking for new ways of ensuring they lead the way in setting our direction of travel. This year, we have been acting on the feedback to our service user involvement and leadership survey to ensure that every team has set plans to expand and improve the opportunities we offer for people to be involved in Together’s work and shape our support.

I hope you enjoy reading about our activities and achievements this year.
