"Should Service Users lead the Personalisation Agenda?" took place at the Royal College of Physicians on November 18th, 2009.
This was a unique event, organised with very active participation from services users and showcasing speakers who have all used mental health services.
The conference explored the importance of service user involvement and leadership in the implementation of the government's personalisation agenda.
Dr Dan Fisher had flown from the United States to share experience gained first as a patient then as a psychiatrist. He brought with him materials compiled at the National Empowerment Center (NEC), where people are trained to become advocates.
Dr Fisher was joined by Alex Seggie, who recalled her experiences as a service user and by Shaun McNeil (Advocacy Matters, VOX Scotland) and David Crepaz-Keay (Wales Mental Health Foundation).
