Suffolk Get-together Group
The Get-together Group was set up in November 1994. It was formed to help people in the Suffolk area meet together to share experiences, ask for advice and form social contacts. Staff say:

'The Group has grown and grown and has a relaxed friendly atmosphere. We meet once a month, usually on a Monday between 7pm and 9pm. We rotate between the main towns in the area – Felixstowe, Ipswich and Stowmarket.

'Every six months we have business meetings to discuss and plan activities, which could be outings, meals out, BBQ's, quizzes etc. There are two members of staff who help plan and organise the meeting including sending out flyers/posters.

'The group is for anyone in the area who uses a Together service. We always welcome new members, and anyone who is new to the group can come along with their Support Worker if they prefer.'

For more information, please contact Beverley Latania on 01473 286138 or Tracey Norman on 01449 771230.

Friendz group
The Friendz group is an independently funded group for all users and ex-users of Shropshire Community-support Service. The group meets three times a year to set a social calendar for the following four months, and ideas for new and different activities are always welcome.

Recent activities have included a trip to Liverpool Albert Dock, the cinema, a Christmas lunch and visit to West Midlands Safari Park.

The group has also had a series of craft design workshops run over the last year by a member of staff from the local sixth-form college.

Several group members have attended Together service-user participation events, which several of them have attended.

Further details can be obtained from Shropshire Community-support Service.
