Talking about Mental Health examines how common mental health issues are described by different groups including doctors, dictionary writers, and the people who experience them around the world. It demystifies medical labels, celebrates individuality and challenges stereotypes. For each condition, the book gives:
- a dictionary definition
- a medical definition (from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders)
- examples of what people around the world say
- examples of what people at Together have said.
The guide is designed to support people to talk to professionals using language they feel comfortable with rather than medical jargon. For sample spreads, click at the foot of the page.
