Developing policy and lobbying
To help move forward debate on mental health issues, Together’s Public Affairs Team responds to official consultations, conducts research into mental health issues, and develops policy positions for the organisation, informed by the views of people who use our services and our staff.

The Team is also committed to working with local communities to raise awareness of mental health issues as well as building links with other groups, and actively encourages elected representatives to learn more about their local mental health services.

We also work to raise Together’s profile within the mental health sector by setting out our views on mental health policy and practice. And we provide comment to the media and opinion-formers, including politicians and civil servants. You can find out more about all these aspects of our work by following the relevant links below.

Henry Hawkins Lecture
To commemorate the work of our founder Rev Henry Hawkins, Together holds an annual Henry Hawkins Lecture to take forward the debate on current social-care practice.

Mental Health Alliance – working with other mental health organisations
Together is a core member of the Mental Health Alliance, an umbrella organisation formed to comment on the Government’s draft Mental Health Bill. Together service-users and staff play an active role in in its lobbying and campaigning.
